About Us

Melissa J. Carson, CSR, began her court reporting career in August of 1981 by joining the well-established firm Court Reporters Associated. Court Reporters Associated had its beginning in the 1960s when the three partners began office sharing and then formed the formal partnership of Court Reporters Associated in the 1970s. In 1991, Melissa became a partner with the firm and remained a partner until 2000 when her three partners decided to retire. In July of 2000 Melissa and another reporter from CRA bought Court Reporters Associated and became partners and remained so until the partners split up in September of 2005. At that time, Carson Reporting & Associates, LLC, was formed.
Court Reporting
Professionally, Melissa has not only successfully owned and operated two court reporting firms, but simultaneously served the Texas Court Reporters Association extensively. Melissa began her Association work in 1986 and served on all but a few committees of the TCRA. She served as a Director for two terms on the Board of Directors. Upon her completion of her Directorship, she then moved on to the Executive Committee where she held the offices of Vice-president of Public Relations (1999-2000), Vice-president of Finance (2000-2001), President-Elect (2001-2002), President (2002-2003) and Immediate Past President (2003-2004). She remains a past president in good standing with the Texas Court Reporters Association.

The Court Reporter's Creed

My profession stems from man's desire and his necessity to preserve the happenings of yesterday and today for tomorrow.

My profession was born with the rise of civilization in ancient Greece.

I was known as a scribe in Judea, Persia and the Roman Empire.

I preserved the Ten Commandments for posterity and was with King Solomon while building the temple.

I was with the founding fathers of the United States when they drafted the Declaration of Independence. My hand labored upon the scroll that set forth the Bill of Rights.

The immortal Abraham Lincoln entrusted me to record the Emancipation Proclamation.

I was commissioned to be with Roosevelt at Yalta. I was with Eisenhower on D-Day and with MacArthur at Tokyo.

I have kept confidence reposed with me by those in high places, as well as those in lowly positions.

My profession protects the truthful witness, and I am a nemesis of the perjurer. I am a party to the administration of justice under the law and the court I serve.

I discharge my duties with devotion and honor. Perhaps I haven't made history, but I have preserved it through the ages.

In the past I was called a scribe. Today I am the court reporter who sits in the courts of our country. I am the voice writer who sits in the United States Congress.

I am the Verbatim Court Reporter!
